Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is a Nigerian game and TV show where participants are asked questions. The top winner will be awarded a sum of ₦20 million after answering a series of questions correctly. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (WWTBAM): How does it work?

If you’ve been able to watch popular Nigerian TV stations on Sunday nights, between 2004 till 2017, then you should know Who Wants to Be a Millionaire TV show.

This game show was designed based on the original British format of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

Now pay attention. Here’s how it works. Many smart and fast-thinking contestants will participate and a few of them will be selected. One of them will be selected for the main game.

The main game is the real game that we all know as “Who Wants to be a Millionaire.” If the contestant can answer all the questions correctly within a given limited time, he/she will be awarded the grand prize set for the day.

In this case, the WWTBAM grand prize is 20 million naira.

Who won the highest money in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

The highest winner of the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire show so far is Aroma Ufodike. He answered all the 15 questions correctly until there was no more question to ask. Aroma Ufodike was awarded the grand prize amount as of that time.

This is the final (15th) question that was asked. And this question carries the highest amount.

Here are the biggest winners of the WWTBAM TV show so far.

1. Aroma Ufodike – ₦10,000,000 (September 11, 2009).

2. Osazuwa Osahon Daniels – ₦5,000,000 (June 19, 2009).

3. Babatunde Oni Oladipo – ₦5,000,000 (2010).

4. Nnaemeka Ubaekwena – ₦5,000,000 (January 1, 2012).

5. Winifred E. Karieren – ₦5,000,000 [First female to win 5 million] (May 2012).

6. Sammy Abraham – ₦5,000,000 (March 17, 2013).

Bonus: Topmost loser of the WWTBAM TV show

The top prize loser of the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire game show is Chukwuma Eze.

Chukwuma Eze didn’t make it to the end-game before getting his first wrong answer. He left home with a cash prize of ₦250,000. This was on March 7, 2016.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Nigeria host

The host of the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire TV show has always been the same person. The one and only Frank Edoho.

Frank Edoho is a Nigerian TV Host, cinematographer, filmmaker, photographer, and media consultant. He is famous for hosting the popular Who Wants to Be a Millionaire TV show.

Frank was born on 8th July 1972, in Kano State, Nigeria.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire Nigeria cash prize amount

The cash prize of the current Who Wants to be a Millionaire TV show is ₦20 million.

This means that if any contestant manages to answer all the questions correctly, he/she will go home with that amount.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire Nigeria Special editions

Aside from the normal game mode, there are also other game modes known as special editions.

Valentine Special

The WWTBAM Valentine Special usually takes place in February. In this game mode, couples will be placed side by side to jointly answer questions for the money prize.

Children Special

The Children Special edition is used to celebrate the Children’s Day celebrations. The participants are usually children between 8 to 14 years of age. The winner(s) will get a scholarship worth 10 Million Naira.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire lifelines

These are features that assist the participant(s) in getting answers correctly.

1. 50:50

The computer will randomly eliminate two wrong options, leaving two options. One option is the right one and the other is wrong.

2. Phone a Friend

The contestant will be allowed to call one of five prearranged friends. Note that the five phone numbers must have been submitted before the program starts.

The contestant has 30 seconds to read the question and options to the friend at the other end, and must also receive a response within this period.

3. Ask the Host

The contestant is allowed to directly ask the host his view on the question.

4. Ask the Audience

The contestant is allowed to ask the audience to give him/her the correct answer to a question. The audience will vote via a poll, and the contestant can select the answer with the highest vote.

However, this lifeline has been discontinued. The audience lifeline requires multiple people to be in the same room, and this is no longer a possible thing due to Covid-19.

However, the first 3 lifelines are still available in the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire TV show.

How to play Who Wants to be a Millionaire Nigeria (WWTBAM)

If you want to participate in and play Who wants to be a Millionaire, launch the dialer app on your mobile phone. Dial *569# and select the first option: “Play Who Wants to be a Millionaire”.

WWTBAM Hot Seat

1. To participate in the audition, send your name, location and phone number to 33854.

2. To compete for the hot seat, send your name and location to 132 through an MTN number.

An SMS fee of ₦100 will be charged.

WWTBAM Home Quiz

Non-participants can answer the weekly quiz from their homes without registering. You just have to answer the home quiz by simply sending the answer to 230. You must also use any MTN number for this.

An SMS fee of ₦100 also applies.
